Connect Facebook and Instagram

Before going to Facebook, confirm these 6 points. Facebook then shows you 6 screens: here we tell you what to choose on each one.

Routes checked on October 10, 2026. Meta changes its menus often; if something doesn't match, write to us.

Before you connect

Tick each point once you have it. Not sure? Open “Where do I see it?”.

  1. I have a Facebook Page for my brand

A Page, not your personal profile. Pautala never posts on personal profiles.

    Where do I see it?

    On a computer

    1. Go to facebook.com.
    2. Tap your photo, top right.
    3. Tap “See all profiles”: the Pages you manage are there.

    On a phone (Facebook app)

    1. Tap the ☰ menu.
    2. Tap the arrow next to your name.
    3. You'll see your profiles and Pages.

Under a Page's name it says “Page · category”, for example “Page · Shopping & retail”.

    I don't have it

Create a Page for your brand. It's free and takes a few minutes. Create a Facebook Page

  2. I'm an admin of that Page, with full control

If an agency runs it, the agency has to give you access, or connect it themselves.

    Where do I see it?

    On a computer

    1. Switch to the Page: tap your photo and choose the Page.
    2. Go to Settings & privacy → Settings → “Page access”.
    3. Under “People with Facebook access”, your name must say “Full control”.

    In Meta Business Suite

    1. Go to business.facebook.com.
    2. Go to Settings → People.
    3. You need full access to the Page.

    I don't have it

Ask whoever manages the Page to give you full control, or to connect the Page themselves. If an agency runs it, the agency can connect it.

  3. My Instagram is a professional account

Business or Creator, not personal. Meta only allows posting to professional accounts.

    Where do I see it?

    On a phone (Instagram app)

    1. Go to your profile.
    2. If you see “Professional dashboard” under your bio, it's already professional.
    3. To confirm: ☰ → “Account type and tools”. If it says “Switch to personal account”, it's already professional.

    I don't have it

In Instagram: ☰ → “Account type and tools” → “Switch to professional account” → choose Business. It's free and takes a minute.

  4. My Instagram is linked to that Page

Without this link, Meta doesn't give us your Instagram.

    Where do I see it?

    From Instagram (phone)

    1. Go to your profile → “Edit profile”.
    2. Under “Public profile information”, the “Page” field must show your Facebook Page.

    From Facebook (computer)

    1. Switch to the Page.
    2. Go to Settings → “Linked accounts” → Instagram.
    3. It must show your @account as connected.

    I don't have it

In Facebook, from the Page: Settings → “Linked accounts” → Instagram → “Connect account”, and sign in with your Instagram.

  5. I'll sign in with the Facebook account that manages the Page

Facebook uses whichever account is open in this browser.

    Where do I see it?

    In this browser

    1. Open facebook.com.
    2. Look at the photo at the top right: it must be your personal admin profile, not the Page or someone else.

If you share the computer, check that nobody else's account is still open.

    I don't have it

Tap your photo → “Log out” and sign in with the right account. Then come back here. A private window works too.

  6. I understand that what I approve is posted publicly

What you approve in the Calendar goes out on that Page and that Instagram, at its time. Nothing goes out without your approval.

    Where do I see it?

    In Pautala

    1. Open the Calendar and go into a piece.
    2. Review it and tap “Approve”. Only then is it ready to go out.

    I don't have it

You can connect now and approve later: nothing is posted without approval.

Step by step on Facebook

These are Facebook's 6 screens, in order, and what to choose on each one.

  1. “Continue as …?”

    • Check it's the person who manages the Page.
    • If it isn't, tap “Log into another account” and sign in with the right one.
  2. Choose the Pages

    • Choose “Opt in to current Pages only”.
    • Tick only your brand's Page.
    • Don't tick personal Pages or other businesses' Pages, and avoid “current and future”: it gives more access than needed.
  3. Choose the business

    • Tick only the business that owns that Page.
    • If none shows up, you can continue.
  4. Choose the Instagram account

    • Tick only your brand's Instagram, the one linked to the Page from step 2.
    • If it doesn't show up, your Instagram isn't professional or isn't linked: go back to points 3 and 4.
  5. Review the permissions

    • Leave them all and tap “Save”.
    • They're for seeing your Pages, posting on the Page and on Instagram, reading metrics to adjust the strategy, and managing the business.
    • If you remove one, Pautala can't post or measure; we'll tell you which one is missing.
  6. “… is connected to Pautala”

    • Tap “OK”.
    • You're back in Pautala and see Facebook and Instagram as “Connected”.

Frequently asked questions

Can Pautala see or post on my personal profile?

No. Pautala only gets the Page and the Instagram you choose, and only posts what you approve. Your personal profile isn't touched.

How do I disconnect?

In Pautala, go to Networks and tap “Disconnect”. You can also remove Pautala from Facebook: Settings → Business integrations.

What happens to what's scheduled if I disconnect?

What was about to be posted on Facebook and Instagram is canceled. Your pieces stay in the Calendar: once you connect again, approve them again.

What if an agency runs my Page?

Whoever connects needs full control of the Page. Ask the agency to give you that access, or to sign in to Pautala and connect it themselves.
